Hello Birney families and friends,

Yesterday was the 7-month anniversary of the day our campus was closed due to COVID-19 and we began this journey of online learning.  Yesterday was also the day we reopened for a select number of our most fragile students to return physically to campus. We will continue to build our eligibility list as circumstances, both site-specific and general community data-specific, allow.

5th graders! Today is a special day for our 5th graders who already reserved their Birney library book. If you reserved your book, remember to stop by at lunchtime to pick it up from Ms. LeeAnn. Here is the link to the video that explains how to reserve the book:

Birney and District Business Needs Grown-Up Help!

About one-third of our families have completed the LCFF form, which means many of you still need to help us out. Over $100,000 of federal and state funding for next year’s academic supports rely on parental participation in the LCFF form processThe LCFF Form can be found in the PowerSchool Parent Portal (https://powerschool.sandi.net). A job aid is available for parents to assist with entering information for the LCFF Form. The LCFF Form is available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese in the Parent Portal. You will need to have access to your PowerSchool Parent Portal, which you requested access to when you wanted to look at your report card from spring.  PLEASE do fill it out, we count on hearing from every family to make sure we keep out Title One status which enables us to keep our English Learner and Reading Specialist support. Helpful Links: LCFF MemoLCFF FAQsInstructions for ParentInstructions for Parent (Spanish).

If you need access to the parent Portal, simply reply to this email for your password.  I have to verify you are you prior to giving out the password, so reply to this email to get the portal info.  The Parent Portal is also where you will access the report card information after report cards are completed on November 13. The Portal will close on November 6 temporarily for teachers to process their grades and create the report cards.  Please complete your LCFF process NEFORE November 6.

Next, every student should have a signed “Universal Form” on file with his/her school for the 2020-21 academic year. If you have not turned in yours, here is a fillable PDF form: English  /  Spanish  Please print and sign the form and then either mail it back to your school or drop off the printed copy. We have received about 15% so far – please help us by doing your part!

Finally, below is the Facts for Parents guide which contains the Universal Form:  English / Spanish. A signed Universal Form acknowledges that you and your family have taken the time to review the Facts for Parents guide. The guide offers a comprehensive look at school district policies and is a valuable source of information.
